About Us

It was originally set up by the Maneklal Group also called as The Maneklal Shah Research Foundation (MSRF). The Directors acquired it from (Maneklal Shah Research Foundation) MSRF and formed M/s SciTech Centre on 4th December, 1971 under section 25 of the Companies Act 1956 as a not-for-profit, Scientific Research and Development Organisation, with the initial scope of investigating the possibilities of assisting the Indian people and technology base in the creation of pharmaceutical equipment that could assist other areas of the world.

SciTech Centre is approved and recognized by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India. In recognition of its excellent R & D achievements the government has renewed its recognition as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) over several decades.

Specific areas of SciTech’s research activity include pharmaceutical engineering, advanced pharma dosage forms research, Vision Systems research and dissemination of scientific information through Conferences, Study Groups and awards and Patents.

The Centre has over 140 scientists, technologists, technicians, skilled research equipment operators for prototype development and research administration personnel. It has both a Board of Governors and a Research Advisory Board.

Its pharma engineering and dosage forms research has resulted in many projects incorporating novel prototypes and mechanisms, as well as dosage platforms. Most of these have been commercialized by sponsors.

SciTech’s innovative R&D has led to import substitution as well as export earnings. It has assisted India in being recognized as a leader in SciTech’s areas of core competence. SciTech Centre has stuck to its initial premise during this time with its R&D benefiting the poor and sick in India and many other countries, by enabling the production and wider availability of lower-cost medicines including those in advanced dosage forms.
